Should a channel target 4,000 watch hours or 10 million Shorts views for YouTube monetization?

Choose the route that matches how your real audience watches. The advertising-revenue threshold generally accepts either 4,000 valid public watch hours from long-form public videos in the previous 12 months or 10 million valid public Shorts views in the previous 90 days, alongside 1,000 subscribers. Shorts-feed watch time does not convert into the 4,000-hour requirement, and no route bypasses policy review.

Shorts route
